Q
Why not use an estimate of RMR?
A
For more than 80 years, health and fitness professionals have relied on equations that estimate RMR using a persons height, weight, age and gender. Such equations have proven inaccurate by nearly 900 calories. With the Gem device, health and fitness professionals can now easily and accurately measure a persons VO2 to determine RMR, providing a precise measurement of the number of calories a person burns each day at rest. The Gem device has been validated against the Douglas Bag technique, the industry standard in analyzing metabolic measurements, and is within 1% accuracy of the Douglas Bag technique for determining RMR.
